Information and Career Guidance Cell :

The Information and Career Guidance Cell was established in the college in the year 2003 with a view to facilitate the students by providing multifaceted information related to different spheres of the modern competitive world. Knowing about earning side by side learning is essential in the present complex world. It is kept in view that student community should have information and background for building up of their careers and therefore this cell was opened and started.

Communicative Skill Development Cell :

In this globalized era students are to cope with the changing environment. It is commonly admitted that there is a vast gape between the students of the comparatively advanced area than that of the remote and rural areas. As we have seen that students coming from vernacular schools and enrolling in higher education face difficulties in acquiring knowledge through English as a medium of instruction. With a view to eliminate this problem and to strengthen the students in speaking and writing English the Communicative Skill Development Cell was established in the year 2003.

Students’ Grievance Redressal Cell:

A Students’ Grievance Redressal Cell is working in the institution to resolve the grievances lodged by the students. The cell is headed by the Principal of the college and assisted by teachers and non-teaching members.

Research Cell:

There is a Research Cell in the college. The cell works for encouraging teachers and students for undertaking research activities and also for publishing and preserving research outcomes. The cell has made all efforts for collecting and preserving the Ph.D./M.Phil. Thesis, Minor Research Projects, Research papers, In House Research Projects etc. undertaken by the teachers and students of the college. The cell also organizes lectures on Research Methodology for the students of the college by inviting experts.

Study Circle:

In order to provide a platform to the students and teachers for achieving and sharing knowledge in different areas of learning, the college established a Study Circle. The Study Circle arranges Seminars, Workshops, Lecture Sessions etc. on important issues as well as various literary competitions. The Study Circle also aims at publishing books, magazines, research articles etc. for the benefit of the students and teachers.

Health Services:

There is one Health Centre in the college. Doctors and nurses have been engaged on part-time basis. Students are offered health services through the centre on the dates notified earlier by the concerned authority. First-aid service is also made available through the centre. On medical emergencies, the college authority takes utmost care for hospitalizing students. The college is only 1 k.m. away from all the hospitals available in the town. Financial assistance is provided to poor students if and when necessary.

NSS Unit:

Nalbari Commerce College has a unit of National Service Scheme (NSS) for the purpose of developing socioeconomic and cultural awareness among the students. The unit is guided by a trained programme officer. It organises camps in rural areas to extend physical labour of the volunteers in the needy areas. Such camps give students an opportunity to realise the need and importance of youths for the society.

Scouts and Guides:

Scouts and guides introduced in our college to teach discipline and create brotherhood among the students.

Mentor System:

In order to ensure intensive care of each and every student, the college offers the Mentor System where a group of twenty-five students is allotted one teacher whom the students can approach at any time for any problem they might face.

Right to Information Act Cell:

To facilitate exercise of right to information under Right to Information Act 2005 our college has constituted a Cell with a view to facilitate the public to know every information within the preview of the said Act. Any person feeling agreed of justice or unfairness from the college will be given right for exercising his/her right to information so that his/her grievances may be redressed for utmost satisfaction.

Commerce and Economic Forum :

Commerce and Economic Forum is a forum consisting of teachers, students, guardians and successful entrepreneurs of the locality. It is commonly admitted that the changing environment of the global economy has been increasing the importance of privatization of economic activities i.e. trade and commerce and industry day by day. Vis-a-vis narrowing down the employment opportunity in public sector or government departments, has further increased the importance of vocational education where commerce education is expected to help the students a lot. Hence, realizing the need of educating the students for preparing them to get employment in private sector and also for preparing students to choose entrepreneurship as a career, the college has established a Commerce and Economic Forum under the Chairmanship of the Principal of the college. A senior teacher is entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating various activities of the forum.

Merit Award :

To encourage the meritorious students of the college following merit awards are provided to the deserving students : 1. Kesharimal Rara Merit Award 2. Dr. Nripendra Malla Buzar Baruah Memorial Merit Award. In addition to the above merit awards some selected economically weak students are provided Merit cum Means Scholarship by the college itself and Council for Expansion of Commerce Education, Assam.

Remedial Classes:

Remedial classes are held for unsuccessful students in an examination.

Bridge Course:

In order to provide the basic concepts of the commerce subjects to the students enrolled into B.Com. Programme coming from other streams like Arts and Science, a Bridge Course is offered at the starting of an Academic Session.

Students’ Mutual Aid Fund:

For extending financial help to the economically backward and needy students was a mutual aid fund is introduced in the college. Funds are generated from the students in general with a minimum subscription. Teachers also contribute to the mutual aid fund of the students. The fund is used to meet the financial need at the time of form fill-up and medical treatment of students in need.


Students are given Institutional Poor Scholarship on recommendation of the committee constituted for selecting the deserving students. Besides the poor scholarship provided by the institution, the students belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories receives Govt. Scholarship subject to submission of relevant documents.

Games and Sports:

Annual Sports events are organized for exposing students’ hidden talents. Students are also allowed to join different sports events organized by other institutions. Selected students having excellent performance are provided with opportunity to join the Youth Festival organized by Gauhati University. There are Volleyball Court, Tennis Court and Indoor Sports Complex in the college campus.

Cultural Events:

Annual Cultural events are organized for exposing students’ ability in different cultural events. Besides, Intra and Inter-college Cultural Competitions are also organized from time by different cells of the college. Students also participate in different cultural events organized by other institutions. Selected students having excellent performance are provided with opportunity to join the Youth Festival organized by Gauhati University.

Hostel Accommodation:

The college accommodates hostel facility to the girl students. The Women Hostel in the college campus is well equipped and fully secured. A Hostel Management Committee headed by the Principal of the college manages the hostel. A senior teacher acts as the Secretary of the committee while one is appointed Warden of the hostel. The Principal monitors the role of the concerned committee.


There is a canteen in the college campus. Hygienic foods are available in the canteen at affordable rates. The quality of foods offered by the canteen is monitored and ensured by a committee headed by the Principal.

Common Room:

Separate common rooms are available for boys and girls. Television sets, magazines etc are available in the common rooms.

Xerox Centre:

There is a Xerox centre in the college campus which is attached to the Canteen.

Wi-Fi Internet Facility:

The college campus is Wi-Fi connected. Teachers and students can easily access to internet in the campus. Besides, the Digital Library section in the central library has 12 computers which are Wi-Fi connected.

Periodic Parents' Meet:

Keeping in view the parents’ role in the overall development of the students, the college has been holding periodic Guardian Meet, often twice in a session, to facilitate the parents to suggest measures for excellence in academic standards which enables the college authority to apply better techniques for the students’ upliftment.
